Transit Stop Catchments
Find the Gap!
At Brio we recognise equitable access demands a strategic approach, rooted in reliable data. Many cities have inherited various combination of accessible stops which may or may not link to the pedestrian network.
How we do it
We consider the actual walking paths people take to reach the stop, providing a more accurate picture of the catchment area.
We map out how pedestrians would navigate the area with consideration applied to the limitations of the pedestrian network, including elements such as crossing zones and path endings.
Benefits
Identifying the gaps will highlight the challenges pedestrians face in reaching the stop, allowing transit authorities to accurately prioritise improvements to footpath network. Addressing barriers that disproportionately affect people with disabilities or underserved communities aligns with commitment to equitable access.
Promoting equitable access through accessibility assessments ensures everyone, regardless of mobility limitations, has a fair chance of reaching their transit stop destination.
