University Campuses
Finding faster routes on campus
Campus can be a bewildering place, especially for new students, staff and visitors. They encompass many different environments from the busiest squares to the quietest corners. Campuses must balance security, safety and accessibility throughout the cycles of the day.
How we do it
First we gather feedback from student and staff, especially disability groups, to research the difficulties and mobility issues pedestrians have moving around the usual campus route maze.
Then we assess the footpaths across the campus, reaching to the transit stops surrounding the campus precinct.
Next step is route analysis – determining the primary routes across campus and identifying issues that create a delayed or difficult journey experience. We analyse routes that open up all the university precincts have to offer including classes across campus, Uni services, student community activities and transport connections.
Benefits
An improved experience is created by the provision of a user-friendly map that helps students, faculty, and visitors find their way around campus, reducing stress and saving time finding their destination.
An Accessibility Work Item Report means that a plan is in place for providing a barrier-free campus environment for students with disabilities.
Finding faster routes on campus by mapping the low effort paths ramps and accessible entrances that connect to internal lifts and corridors to navigate the campus.
